  1. Tub and Shower Cleaner

We often end up spending many hours trying to scrub off the soap scum on the shower or the tub. But to our disappointment, we aren’t ever completely successful in getting the cleaning done with regular detergent. And after trying out different hacks over the past few years, we’ve finally found a way out, with what we call the ‘miracle cleaner’.

To make this fantastic solution, you need to mix one part dishwashing liquid and two parts of white distilled vinegar.

We’ve got a spray bottle that we keep refilling and that’s the best way to store this solution. For using this solution correctly, you need to go through the following directions:

Measure out the vinegar- If you’ve got a 30-ounce bottle, you need 20-ounce vinegar and 10-ounce of water. The vinegar should be heated in the microwave for a few minutes until it’s hot. After which you can pour it into the spray bottle to mix it with the liquid soap.

Now, you can spray your shower down evenly and leave it on for around 45 minutes to an hour. However, the longer the solution sits, the easier it gets to scrub off the soap scum by using a hard brush.

  1. Cleaning the Ceiling Fan

We end up cleaning the entire house, but generally, we miss out on one area, and that’s the ceiling fan. The ceiling fan can get pretty dusty, and it’s best when you get a chance to clean them at least once a month. It might sound challenging when you think of cleaning the fans, but you can follow this simple method to get the work done effortlessly.

Here’s the list of things that you’ll require:

  • A ladder
  • A spare pillowcase
  • Dusting spray or water

You need to spray the insides of your spare pillow cover with the right amount of dusting spray or water. This liquid helps to clean the blades by removing the accumulated dust and grime.

Cleaning the ceiling fan

After you’re done spraying, you can climb up the ladder carefully to cover the blades of your fan with the pillowcase. Then, you can gather the top of your pillow cover to pull it out gently in the outward direction.

Repeat this process on all the blades, and you won’t need to waste too much time, effort, or napkins in completing this task. Your pillowcases are enough to get those blades clean!

  1. Clean & Freshen Your Mattress

For obvious reasons, we can’t wash our mattress. But we can surely follow a simple cleaning trick to make it smell fresh and clean. For this hack, you’ll need a few items such as- a vacuum cleaner that has a furniture adjustment, essential oil, and baking soda.

First thing first, you should remove all the linens and pillows that are covering the mattress. And for making the cleaner, you’ll need to put some baking soda into a container and pour a few drops of essential oil into this.

You should ensure that you’re using a jar with a tight-fitting lid so that there isn’t any leakage when shaking the container to mix the ingredients properly.

Once the baking soda mixture is ready, you just need to sprinkle them all over your mattress. You can now go about doing some other task because you should let the mixture sit on the bed for an hour or two. By giving this tiny window period, you’re allowing the baking soda to absorb the body oils from the mattress.

Then, you need to vacuum up this mixture by using the furniture cleaning attachment of your vacuum cleaner. For the best results, you need to clean the surface of the mattress thoroughly, by moving the vacuum cleaner in different directions. Now, you can grab a good night’s sleep with the refreshing smell of lavender essential oil.

  1. Cleaning the Dishwasher

To clean the dishwasher, you need to pull out the bottom rack to check the drain area. You need to remove the hard chunks that can possibly plug the drain, scratch the dishes, and damage the pump. And you shouldn’t be surprised at the dirt that you’ll find while cleaning the drain area because it generally includes bones, gravel pieces, glass pieces, etc.

After you’ve removed the accumulated dirt, you need to place a dishwasher-safe cup on the top rack by filling it with white vinegar. Then, use hot water to run the dishwasher through a complete cycle. Vinegar helps to wash away the loose, greasy grime. And it also removes odor and sanitizes the dishwasher.

After you’re done sanitizing it with vinegar, you need to sprinkle a cup of baking soda at the bottom of your tub. Finally, you need to use the hottest water again to run it through a short, complete cycle. This step helps to remove the stains from the dishwasher and makes it sparkling clean.
