Tozier, Ltd. (TOZIER) in association with Global Living Systems, LLC. (GLS) is in development of the first “G Home,” a modern, elegant and affordable housing prototype for the 21st century.
G Home designs follow 21 ecological principles and a design diagram developed by GLS, which incorporates both the modern needs of occupants and the environment. The G Home Las Vegas Valley (GHLV) demonstration showcase is currently under construction at 328 N. Lisbon St. Henderson, Nev., near Lake Las Vegas and expected to be completed in late 2015. Henderson-based Scott Sanders Construction is providing the general construction supervision for the project. Once completed, the home will be utilized as a venue for meetings, special events, and public presentations showcasing the design and philosophy of GLS G Homes.
GHLV will be a 3,170 square-foot, two-level variant of an original prototype designed in 2007 for the purpose of testing the effectiveness of the concept. The original proposed G Home prototype designed for Riverside County, Calif., achieved an energy efficiency rating of 56% over-compliance in relation to the national REScheck™ energy standards and 40.7% over-efficiency to California’s Title 24 energy standards, which are among the strictest in the nation. In addition to superior energy efficiency, the project is expected to cost about $100 per square foot to build, proving that high-performance green design can be surprisingly affordable.
GHLV features a structural envelope of prefabricated “galvalume” steel-arch panels, which are highly corrosion resistant, stackable for space-efficient transport and can be erected within a matter of days. GHLV will be superinsulated, using a combination of radiant heat barriers and multiple layer types of rigid, spray and batt insulation.
GHLV will also make use of the latest in renewable home energy production systems; thermal and photovoltaic solar panels, wind turbine/s, batteries and charging stations will make GHLV cutting-edge in the emerging clean energy economy.
The materials used for the G Home project have been selected for superior performance in reducing energy consumption as well as being capable of producing more energy than it consumes. “Our goal as a design-build firm has always been to make green living easy and affordable without sacrificing strength, performance, safety and of course, aesthetics,” says Aeron Tozier, GLS Founder and G Home Designer. “A G Home is capable of living quietly, anywhere on the planet with a zero-carbon footprint. On Saturday, March 28th, a crowdfunding campaign began and will conclude on May 27th at 9:30 p.m. PST. G Home’s Kickstarter hopes to raise $40,000 within the 60-day time period of the campaign and will use the funding towards their first G Home demonstration showcase, G Home Las Vegas Valley (GHLV).
