AON Building neighborhood facility designed by LKSA at the edge of Gyeongui Line Forest Park creates a spatial contrast between urban frontage and natural surroundings. The design minimizes openings toward the 20-meter-wide road, forming a solid mass, while maximizing transparency on the park-facing side to enhance visual interaction with the forest. Each floor incorporates outdoor spaces to support environmental engagement. The stone facade features 50mm-spaced horizontal joints for texture, with chamfered sill stones and lintels creating strong architectural openings. Facing the wide road permits unrestricted spatial configuration, free from solar setback limitations. The design aims to foster a heightened appreciation of space through its connection to the adjacent park landscape.

The site is positioned at the end of the Gyeongui Line Forest Park, where it encounters contrasting conditions: a 20-meter-wide road at the front and a forested park at the rear. In response to this context, the design reduces the number of openings on the road-facing side, giving the building a solid and heavy mass. On the side facing the park, the openings are maximized to establish a strong visual connection with the surrounding forest.

As a neighborhood facility, the interior spaces are planned as large open areas to support a variety of sub-programs. Each floor also includes outdoor spaces, providing opportunities for direct interaction with the surrounding natural environment.

The horizontal joints of the stone facade are spaced at 50mm intervals to create textural variation. The sill stones and lintels are chamfered to produce strong, well-defined openings. The building’s orientation toward the 20-meter-wide road allows for flexibility in spatial configuration, as there are no sunlight restrictions imposed by adjacent properties.

The design aims for visitors to fully appreciate the value of the space through meaningful interaction with the natural surroundings of the Gyeongui Line Forest Park.
