The BEEAH Headquarters, designed by Zaha Hadid Architects in Sharjah, UAE, is a 9,000-square-meter sustainable workplace completed in 2022. The structure integrates net-zero emissions strategies and operates at LEED Platinum standards, powered by an on-site solar farm with Tesla battery storage. Inspired by desert dunes, its design optimizes natural ventilation, daylighting, and energy efficiency while limiting solar exposure. The headquarters includes administrative offices, smart meeting spaces, an auditorium, and a central courtyard that enhances passive cooling. Automated systems regulate lighting, temperature, and contactless navigation, reflecting BEEAH’s commitment to digital transformation and sustainability. Developed with Buro Happold, Atelier Ten, and Al Futtaim Construction, the project establishes a new model for future-ready, environmentally responsible workplaces.

The BEEAH Group’s new headquarters in Sharjah, UAE, was inaugurated on March 30, 2022, by His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah. Designed by Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA), the building exemplifies sustainable and technologically advanced workplace design. Operating at LEED Platinum standards, it is powered entirely by renewable energy and is engineered to achieve net-zero emissions, establishing a benchmark for sustainable corporate facilities.

BEEAH Group operates across six key industries: waste management, clean energy, environmental consulting, education, and green mobility. The headquarters represents a significant milestone in the company’s expansion into industries shaping the future of sustainability. By integrating digital innovation and environmentally responsible architecture, the building demonstrates how technology and sustainability can drive the development of future urban environments.

The architectural design takes inspiration from the surrounding desert landscape, forming a series of interwoven “dune” structures shaped to respond to Sharjah’s climate. These structures are oriented to optimize natural ventilation and reduce solar exposure while seamlessly blending with the environment. The design echoes the forms of wind-sculpted dunes, with concave surfaces shaped by airflow and convex ridges where the structures intersect.

Two primary “dune” volumes accommodate public, management, and administrative functions, connected by a central courtyard that enhances natural ventilation and cooling. The entrance is marked by a 15-meter-high dome, designed to amplify passive cooling and introduce daylight into the building. The headquarters features open-plan offices, an immersive visitors’ center, smart meeting rooms, and an auditorium, all integrated with automated systems to optimize energy efficiency and operational convenience.

Spanning 9,000 square meters, the headquarters is built using locally sourced materials and incorporates advanced sustainability technologies. Glass-reinforced fiber panels minimize heat gain, while slab and glass cooling systems maintain comfortable indoor temperatures. An on-site water treatment system reduces water consumption, and a solar farm powers Tesla battery packs to ensure a continuous energy supply.

A smart management system adjusts lighting and temperature automatically based on occupancy and time of day, further enhancing energy efficiency. Employees navigate the building through contactless pathways, while a virtual concierge and companion app streamline daily operations. Meeting rooms are equipped with digital collaboration tools to facilitate remote and hybrid work environments.

The headquarters embodies BEEAH’s core principles of sustainability and digital transformation, reinforcing the company’s role as a leader in environmental innovation. The project underscores BEEAH’s evolution from a regional environmental solutions provider to a global entity driving sustainable development across multiple industries.

Following an international design competition in 2013, Zaha Hadid and her team at ZHA were commissioned to design a headquarters that integrates net-zero emissions strategies and cutting-edge smart technologies. The project was delivered in collaboration with sustainability consultants Atelier Ten, engineering firm Buro Happold, project managers Matthews Southwest, and construction contractor Al Futtaim Construction. Smart building technologies were developed in partnership with Microsoft, Johnson Controls, and EVOTEQ, a BEEAH Digital venture.
