El Montañés House, designed by Gonzalo Iturriaga Arquitectos, is located on the slopes of Cerro del Cobre. The house is strategically positioned on a predominantly southern slope above a ravine and mountain slopes, incorporating large groups of rocks, bushes, and medium-height trees. The project is situated perpendicular to the natural terrain, elevated to find its place among the rocks.

Located on the slopes of Cerro del Cobre, El Montañés House is perched on a predominantly southern slope overlooking a ravine and mountain slopes. The site, characterized by large groups of rocks, bushes, and medium-height trees, positions the house perpendicular to the natural terrain, elevated to integrate with the rocky landscape.

The project’s envelope defines a space internally articulated by two concrete walls. One side houses a common living and kitchen area, while the other contains more compact bedroom and bathroom spaces. The façade is divided into three sections: the staircase and the opening, the mountain view, and the compact enclosures. At the sharpest end of the floor plan, a small terrace extends outward.

The structure primarily consists of two concrete walls, along with a framework of metal pillars and beams, complemented by wooden beams and partitions. The volume is suspended above the natural terrain, addressing the complexity of the rocky landscape, with 60% of the elements resting on the site’s rocks. Perimeter coverings and closures are made of heat-treated wood sealed with primers, and the glass facades utilize an external glued thermopane system.
