Lindemans Brewery, a satellite facility designed by A2D Architects in Ruisbroek, Belgium, introduces the first phase of a new brewing complex that integrates production infrastructure with public-facing functions. Located in the northeast industrial zone of Sint-Pieters-Leeuw, the project includes a production hall and a brewing and event hall housed in a distinctively articulated office building. The brewing hall’s facade features concave vertical brick elements referencing traditional beer silos and 19th-century industrial buildings, set atop a refined concrete base. The restrained material palette consists of red/brown brick, architectural concrete, and metal railings. A prefabricated concrete production hall remains visually secondary. A surrounding brick and concrete wall encloses silo and tank areas, maintaining continuity with the facade rhythm. Cylindrical forms extend indoors through the elevator shaft, spiral staircase, and entrance lobby, reinforcing the connection between industrial function and architectural expression.

This project represents the first phase of a new satellite brewery for Brouwerij Lindemans and includes supporting infrastructure such as roadway access, landscaping, and sewer systems. The site is located in the northeastern part of the Sint-Pieters-Leeuw municipality, within the industrial district of Ruisbroek. The architectural design is composed of two main structures: a production hall and a publicly accessible office building. The office building houses a large brewing and event hall, along with essential support spaces including kitchens, storage areas, retail spaces, offices, and conference rooms. It also features a spacious, partially covered terrace intended for hosting social events. A future development phase includes plans to expand both the storage and production areas toward the rear portion of the site.

The two building volumes are designed with distinct finishes. The brewing hall functions as the visual identity of the brewery and conveys this role through a distinctive architectural expression. The facade’s geometry takes inspiration from the curved forms of stainless-steel silos used in beer storage and production. It is composed of vertical, concave brick elements with large openings that function as windows or terraces. This expressive facade sits on a refined concrete plinth that anchors the structure to its site. A red/brown brick with a nuanced tone was selected to reference 19th-century breweries and nearby industrial buildings. The traditional quality of the brick forms a subtle contrast with the contemporary geometric form of the brewing hall, giving the building a presence that is both dynamic and contextually responsive.

The production hall was constructed using prefabricated concrete sandwich panels. Its neutral appearance allows it to remain visually subordinate to the brewing hall. The material palette for the brewing hall is deliberately restrained, consisting solely of brick for the facade and architectural concrete for the base, caps, and sills. In addition, the railings are specified to be made of lacquered aluminum or steel.

A third element of the design is the wall enclosing the silo and tank area, which, through its materiality and architectural form, is fully integrated into the visual language of the brewing hall. This wall extends the rhythm of the concave segmented facade using the same nuanced red/brown brick and is set atop a concrete base. The most prominent tanks visible behind the low wall are treated as part of the facade composition. These tanks are finished in high-grade stainless steel to amplify their visual presence and emphasize the building’s industrial purpose. Inside, the cylindrical design language continues in key architectural components such as the elevator shaft, the monumental spiral staircase, and the expansive entrance lobby.
