In the lakeside home of Polish actress Sonia Bohosiewicz, architect Ola Ziarek and glass artist Edyta Barańska have crafted a poetic dialogue between art and architecture. The centerpiece of the interior is “Melting Clocks,” a glass installation inspired by Salvador Dalí’s surrealist imagery yet reinterpreted through contemporary craftsmanship. The house, designed as a serene retreat on the Zegrze Reservoir, reflects Bohosiewicz’s vibrant personality while maintaining a sense of calm and balance. Barańska’s sculptural lamp, fluid, luminous, and evocative, anchors the space both as an artwork and as a source of light. Ziarek’s design blends natural materials, warm tones, and artistic elements into a cohesive whole that emphasizes atmosphere and emotion. The result is an interior that feels deeply personal, where design and art coexist, and where time, symbolically and literally, seems to flow more slowly.

I’ve always been captivated by the beauty and versatility of glass as a material. Growing up, I was surrounded by nature, and I often found myself mesmerized by the way light interacts with different elements, especially crystals and rocks. This fascination with natural formations and their intricate details led me to explore glass as a medium to capture and recreate that beauty. The ability to mold and shape glass into stunning, translucent works of art that reflect the world around us is what inspired me to become a glass designer.

The collaboration between architect Ola Ziarek and artist Edyta Barańska in Sonia Bohosiewicz’s home results in a space that transcends traditional notions of domestic design. It is not merely a residence but a composition of textures, light, and meaning, where the boundaries between functionality and art blur. At its heart, the “Melting Clocks” lamp commands attention, embodying both movement and stillness, a delicate balance reminiscent of Dalí’s surreal forms yet deeply rooted in the material expressiveness of glass.

Situated on the tranquil shores of the Zegrze Reservoir, the house serves as a sanctuary for its owner. Ziarek sought to design a home that resonates with Bohosiewicz’s dynamic yet introspective nature. Each element, from the choice of Alicante stone in the fireplace to the Moroccan tiles in the kitchen, was selected to create layers of narrative and mood. The interior celebrates tactile richness: wood, fabric, and stone interlace in a dialogue heightened by the cool, fluid tones of the glass installation above the dining table.

The creation of “Melting Clocks” was itself a story of intuition and collaboration. Following an exchange over social media, Bohosiewicz invited Barańska to interpret her vision of a lamp that would embody slow, flowing time. Inspired by an earlier design, Barańska developed a suspended glass composition that appears to pour and drape like liquid crystal. What began as a single fixture evolved into three cascading forms suspended at varying heights, each piece hand-shaped and positioned to catch and refract light in unique ways.

By day, sunlight filters through the glass, revealing subtle color shifts and intricate textures. By night, the lamp transforms into a glowing sculpture, defining the mood of the space. It becomes less an object and more an experiential art in motion that complements the architect’s calm yet expressive palette. The effect is immersive, as if the home itself breathes in rhythm with the glass.

Ziarek’s sensitivity to composition ensures that every element participates in a unified whole. Custom furniture, fine detailing, and selected artworks all respond to the sculptural centerpiece. Even functional elements, such as the kitchen fittings, are integrated with an eye for coherence and material harmony. The result is a space where emotion and craftsmanship coexist, and where living becomes an aesthetic act.

For Bohosiewicz, this home represents not only a personal refuge but also a manifestation of her creative spirit. When the lamp illuminates the room, it transforms the atmosphere into one of quiet wonder—a visual metaphor for time that is savored rather than measured. In this interior, art and life merge seamlessly, reaffirming that beauty resides not only in objects but in the spaces they create between one moment and the next.
