PAGEONE Vinyl Concept Store, designed by llLab. in Beijing’s Olympic Forest Park, redefines the experience of books and vinyl records by treating them as interconnected mediums of storytelling and memory. Completed in 2023, the 400 m² space emphasizes accessibility and sensory engagement, utilizing natural wood to foster warmth and intimacy. A double-height “vinyl concert hall” anchors the design, integrating reading areas, event spaces, and coffee zones into a cohesive environment. Positioned along a cultural axis with PAGEONE BeijingFun, the project balances urban vibrancy with a tranquil retreat within the park.

The PAGEONE Vinyl Concept Store, located within POLPAS in Beijing’s Olympic Forest Park, introduces a fresh design approach that differentiates it from PAGEONE’s previous stores. The project reimagines the relationship between books and vinyl records, presenting them as parallel mediums for documentation, preservation, and cultural engagement. By blending sight and sound, the space encourages visitors to connect with both forms through sensory exploration.
Light, materials, and textures are experienced, harmonizing these layers of perception with the environment, enhancing not just functionality but the emotional and sensory experience of the space.

The design focuses on fostering a natural and contemplative atmosphere, where reading and listening become immersive experiences. Predominantly constructed with natural wood, the space evokes warmth and familiarity, reinforcing an intuitive connection with books and music. Accessibility is a priority, with every book and record within reach, ensuring visitors can engage with the collection seamlessly. Reading and listening areas function as intimate retreats, designed for focus and relaxation within a quiet, nature-infused setting.

At the heart of the store, a double-height display wall transforms the space into a “vinyl concert hall,” integrating distinct zones for reading, coffee breaks, events, and children’s activities. Rather than prioritizing traditional retail display methods, the layout fosters interaction, inviting visitors to browse, discover, and engage with the content on a deeper level.

PAGEONE POLPAS establishes a cultural link with PAGEONE BeijingFun, located along the city’s central axis. While PAGEONE BeijingFun captures the energy of Beijing’s street life through dynamic spatial relationships, PAGEONE POLPAS serves as a peaceful counterpart within the park. Designed as a place for contemplation and personal reflection, the store offers visitors a retreat from the urban environment, strengthening PAGEONE’s role as both a literary and cultural landmark.
