PLP City Range mixed-use building designed by ASWA in Bangkok introduces a vertically organized golf simulation and leisure facility in the Thonglor neighborhood, combining architectural expression with technical precision. The facade of alternating concave and convex precast concrete panels evokes the arc of a golf swing while managing natural light essential for simulator performance. Steel-framed entrances and future retail areas, shaped like a golf driver, use semi-reflective materials to emphasize a modern identity. The six-level structure includes a ground floor with lobby and parking, a youth golf simulation area with canteen on the second floor, a VIP bay with lounge on the third, and a semi-outdoor putting green, chipping area, and multi-sport court on the fourth. The top two levels offer bare-shell, double-height residential units. A curved glass opening above ground level allows daylight in without compromising simulator conditions, completing a design that unifies recreation, commerce, and living within a sculptural concrete form.

Located in the quiet and upscale Thonglor neighborhood of Bangkok, the PLP City Range is a mixed-use facility primarily designed as a state-of-the-art golf simulation center. The building’s distinctive facade is composed of concave and convex precast concrete panels, which serve both visual and functional roles. These specially shaped elements create a shifting pattern of light and shadow throughout the day, subtly referencing the arc of a golf swing and visually expressing the essence of the sport. Steel components highlight the entrance and designated retail areas on the ground floor, intentionally shaped to resemble the streamlined form of a golf driver and finished with semi-reflective materials that reinforce their contemporary appearance.

With six functional stories, each floor is designated for a specific purpose, ensuring efficient use of space while serving a varied group of users. The ground floor includes a spacious main lobby and planned retail area, along with on-site parking to accommodate visitors. The second floor features an indoor golf simulation zone designed for youth, supported by a small, comfortable canteen offering refreshments and a space to unwind between activities.

The third floor offers a more exclusive experience with a VIP golf simulation bay, private VIP rooms, and a bar area designed for golfers seeking greater privacy and comfort. The fourth floor stands out with its semi-outdoor chipping area, putting green, and multi-sport court. This level is designed to utilize natural ventilation, creating an open-air atmosphere while accommodating essential golf practice functions.

The fifth and sixth floors are designed as bare-shell, double-height spaces with panoramic views of the Thonglor area, intended for the owners’ residences. This configuration offers a unique opportunity for residents to live in close proximity to recreational and leisure amenities within the same building.

To address the critical challenge of managing natural light, which is essential for maintaining the optimal performance of golf simulation equipment, concave and convex precast concrete panels were specifically chosen as the primary construction material. These panels are designed to create an opaque interior environment that supports the technical requirements of the simulation systems. In addition, the building integrates a transparent curved glass opening strategically placed at a corner above ground level, maximizing both external views and the entry of natural sunlight. This feature enhances the experience for guests while preserving the interior lighting conditions necessary for accurate golf simulation.
