POST IMPACT explores how artistic expression moves through individuals and communities by translating the concept of impact into an ephemeral spatial installation. Conceived as a stylized crater with radial shock waves, the project transforms a public square in Iasi into an active performance landscape. A circular stage anchors the composition, while two red sculptural corridors rise and fall around it, evoking the expansion of energy released at the moment of contact. The designers positioned the installation to maintain visibility while respecting pedestrian flows, allowing the structure to merge with daily urban life. Movement within and around the installation becomes a shared narrative among performers, residents, and passersby. Students from performing arts programs across Romania activated the space throughout its two-week presence during Romanian Creative Week, and visitors of all ages engaged with the installation by walking, dancing, and playing within its shifting forms. The project highlights how artistic encounters generate subtle ripples that grow into collective experiences.

POST IMPACT approaches public space as a living field of exchange, using the metaphor of a comet’s forceful arrival to examine how artistic encounters shape individual perception and community dynamics. Rather than treating the installation as a static event, the designers explored the chain reactions that follow an initial strike, whether microscopic or monumental, and observed how these reactions create new conditions for growth. This conceptual lens allowed aPunct to frame the project as an unfolding process that parallels the transformative potential of performance.

At the center of the installation, a seven and a half meter circular stage marks the point of impact and establishes the project’s spatial logic. From that point outward, the ground appears to shift in response to an invisible force, giving rise to two red corridors whose height and thickness fluctuate as if tracing the propagation of energy. The geometry creates a sense of movement even in stillness, forming an expressive presence that can be read from multiple vantage points across the square.

The integration with the site was studied carefully in order to balance prominence and permeability. By locating the stage slightly outside the primary pedestrian routes, the designers maintained uninterrupted urban circulation while ensuring that performances remained visible to the broader public. The semi-transparent character of the ensemble allows the motions of performers to intersect with those of residents who cross the square on their daily routines, resulting in overlapping patterns of activity that enrich both.

Throughout Romanian Creative Week, the installation supported an evolving program of theater and choreography performances by students from major Romanian arts faculties. At the same time, the structure invited spontaneous engagement from the community, particularly children who animated the space with unpredictable paths and gestures. These parallel layers of movement fulfilled the project’s intention to illustrate how artistic impact radiates beyond the moment of expression, prompting curiosity, participation, and connection among those who encounter it. POST IMPACT ultimately demonstrates how a temporary intervention can alter the perception of a public space and reveal the subtle resonance shared between art and collective life.
