The new facility for Vision Pakistan, designed by DB Studios, serves as a dedicated space for a social initiative that provides vocational and personal development training to young men in Islamabad. A year-long program equips participants with tailoring skills, literacy, and life skills aimed at fostering independence and social reintegration. The building accommodates 40 to 50 students alongside tutors, administrators, and support staff. Spaces include classrooms, recreation areas, dining and exhibition rooms, staff lodging, and a rooftop prayer area with a kitchen garden maintained by the students. Key features such as a central atrium with a tall anchor tree promote natural light, ventilation, and community connection, while exposed services simplify upkeep. Perforated metal screens introduce vibrant patterns and colors drawn from regional crafts and mid-century Islamabad architecture, softening the concrete structure and signaling hope within its peri-urban setting.

DB Studios approached the Vision Pakistan project with the understanding that architecture can be a catalyst for rehabilitation as much as a vessel for function. The building is positioned within a dense peri-urban neighborhood, where its concrete form, softened by bursts of patterned metal screens, asserts both permanence and optimism. These jaali elements recall traditional Pakistani and Arab geometries while also paying homage to the architectural language of Islamabad’s formative years, reinterpreted here in bright, uplifting colors tied to the vernacular palette of the surrounding community.

At the heart of the design is a tall, light-filled atrium anchored by a tree, establishing a calm nucleus for daily activities. This central space facilitates cross-ventilation and visual connections while encouraging a collective sense of belonging. Around it, the program unfolds with a balance of flexibility and clarity, from the five adaptable classrooms to dining, recreation, and exhibition areas that double as rentable venues for income generation. The inclusion of staff boarding, prayer facilities, and a rooftop kitchen garden underscores the holistic approach of the charity, merging education, spirituality, and self-sufficiency under one roof.

Every design choice prioritizes long-term practicality and resilience. Exposed services streamline maintenance, while the carefully planned spatial flow nurtures both discipline and community spirit. By aligning architectural form with the mission of Vision Pakistan, the project becomes more than an educational building: it is a space where at-risk youth are invited to rebuild confidence, acquire skills, and reclaim their futures within an environment designed to inspire stability and hope.
