Yvyrupa Cabins for a Hotel in Cerrito designed by SD+A integrates indigenous materials and harmony with nature into a unique architectural experience. Inspired by the Mbya Guaraní’s traditional constructions, the design reflects respect for nature as a companion, not a resource to dominate. Built in a forest clearing using local materials like earth and wood, the cabins blend seamlessly with the landscape, minimizing environmental impact. The architecture flows with the environment, creating a peaceful refuge that fosters introspection and a deep sensory connection to the natural world, where construction and landscape are inseparable.

The Yvyrupa Cabins were designed under the premise of a profound connection with nature, drawing inspiration from the traditional architecture of the Mbya Guaraní. Respecting the natural configuration of the forest, the spaces have been arranged in pre-existing clearings, minimizing environmental impact and promoting a harmonious dialogue between the built environment and its surroundings.

Yvyrupa, meaning “home of the earth,” consists of cabins designed for a hotel in Cerrito. The architecture of Yvyrupa aims to reconnect humanity with its primal surroundings. Drawing inspiration from the traditional constructions of the Mbya Guaraní, the design reflects a deliberate and respectful response to nature, viewing it not as a space to dominate but as a companion worthy of respect.

By utilizing the natural clearings in the forest and incorporating indigenous materials such as earth and wood, the cabins seamlessly integrate with the landscape, minimizing their environmental impact and allowing nature to take center stage. The project is situated within a forest clearing, carefully respecting and adapting to the site’s natural configuration.

The architecture avoids imposing itself and instead flows naturally with the environment, establishing a harmonious relationship between the built and the natural. This subtle dialogue among the elements reflects a philosophy that views inhabiting as a humble and poetic act, with each space designed as an extension of the earth itself.

By integrating seamlessly with their surroundings, the cabins provide a refuge that fosters introspection and tranquility, offering a distinctive sensory experience. In this project, nature is not treated as a mere backdrop but as a vital element of the creative process, where construction and landscape are intrinsically linked.
